In larger part, the advanced level classes of the Advanced Dance Program consist of LAT students who started out in the beginner entry level classes of the Dance Expression Program (pink menu) many years ago, and through their passion for dance, consistent dance training year after year, strong work ethic, dance skills & interpretation talent, team spirit and positive attitude were invited into this advanced level of dance training. These dancers ages eight to young adult have been dancing two to fourteen years consecutively and seriously.
There are two significant age groups in this Advanced Dance Program:
You may notice that there is an age group missing . . . ages 13-15.
Adolescents between the ages of 13-15 dance in the
Teen Dance Program found in the pink menu on this website. Even those long-time LAT dancers that have “graduated” from the Advanced Children Dance Program mentioned above move through this transition phase to re-group and re-focus. Teens still have performance opportunities when they are part of the Teen PERFORMANCE FOCUS (i.e. the EON cast).
All new LAT Teen dancers enter the RECREATIONAL FOCUS, then through hard work and determination are invited into the PERFORMANCE FOCUS.
Transition from Teen to Senior dancer
Those teens “at the top of the class” will be invited to begin the intense transition process from being a teen dancer to being a senior dancer. How is this done? By working extra hard on your own personal classical ballet technique, by noticeably improving all your dance skills (in all your chosen styles), by working on your “dancer lines” and also by learning choreography quickly and precisely in class. By being a leader in the Teen Dance Program, you are not only a great example for yourself, but to others as well. Learn to push and challenge yourself in class like you never have before!!! By being serious about your dance technique training you also give yourself the opportunity to become an LAT senior dancer, and to join “The Company” in the future!
