A dance / Pilates place
with a community feel . . .
Pilates has been successfully in existence since the very beginning when doors opened at Les Ateliers Turcotte in September 2001. Mainly through positive “word of mouth” an enthusiastic and dedicated community of women has formed. Many of these women have been taking class now for three to seven years! Come join us!
Pilates & Meditation classes at LAT focuses on body awareness, technique, alignment, breathing and stretching while learning to initiate all exercises through “engaging the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles”. This promotes an ever increasing level of core strength and stability. The class begins with a slow and meditative somatic warm-up and a guided meditation to help release the mind in order to sense and observe the body. An extensive exploration of Mat Pilates exercises flows from one to the next in a well choreographed routine, paying special attention to slow, meditative and precise movements and breath.

These Pilates & Meditation classes are great for abdominals, muscle balancing, stretching and relaxation. They are not however a cardiovascular work-out, therefore this class is great in combination with the Walking Group.

Our Walking Group Starts FALL 2011
Our Walking Group will meet at 10:30am on Monday, Wednesday, Friday after the LAT Pilates & Meditation classes. Choose to join in once, twice or three times a week. Choose to do one or both of these exercise options on the same day.
The Walking Group meets outside Les Ateliers Turcotte for a thorough standing warm-up and basic stretch before setting off on a circuit of NDG streets and some neighbourhood parks for extra exercises.

These one hour walking sessions are great for a moderate cardiovascular work-out in the fresh and open air!!!! Within the hour we will do a few basic stretches and some extra exercises to compliment our walking, such as split squats and balances. This class is not however a full body strengthening, core muscle work-out, therefore this class is great in combination with the Pilates & Meditation class.
